The Spare Heir Or The Real Heir?

The wise book with principles that cannot be faulted once quoted ” a calm and undisturbed mind and heart are the life and health of the body, but envy, jealousy, and wrath are like rottenness of the bones. God doesn’t want anyone to be sick not with jealousy or bone rottenness, but such was the case of Princess Margaret Countess of Snowdon.

Since the Queen passed on to glory, there had been so many eulogies, odes, dirges, and encomium pouring forth to the palace of Buckingham in commemorating the life and times of the Queen. Her patriotism, her values, and everything she represents. She will forever be in the hearts of men, for her service to God and humanity as the longest monarch that ever reigned. But amid the Queen’s funeral razzmatazz, I stumbled on Princess Marageth. So who’s she?? Come on, Let’s delve in!

Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdown.

Princess Margaret is Queen Elizabeth’s (ii) youngest sister, she’s a socialite, and always in the face of newspaper gossip columns. Elizabeth and Margareth’s parents came into the spotlight as the heirs of the throne, almost unprepared as a result of Edward’s (Vi) abdication from the throne, 11 months after he was crowned king. King George(Vi) and Queen Mother Elizabeth Angela (Queen Elizabeth’s parents) were not ready for the spotlight that hit them, and this affected the family relationship, including how the children began to see themselves, especially princess Margaret. Elizabeth had always been a studious person before the spotlight, so she just adjusted to learning more efficiently, unlike her father King George, who had always wanted a simple life with his wife and two daughters, and Margareth, who just wanted to be a “babygirl” for life, because of the indulgence she enjoyed in the arms of her father. Indulging your children once in a while isn’t a bad idea, but you don’t want to overstretch it!

Margaret was seen most times, smoking, partying, and high on alcohol all of which was not healthy for her health. The unpreparedness for life in the spotlight made King George always work himself out too hard, all of these complications led to his death in his early fifties. His death completely shattered his family, Margaret, especially as the only person that seemed to have loved and indulged her so much left her lonely. She decided to seek solace in marrying a man that she’s 16years older than, this marriage didn’t work out as the parliament rose against it. Margaret became a bitter woman and intensified her smoking and. drinking habits irrespective of medical advice.

Queen Elizabeth ascended the throne, and the feud between her and her sister Margareth grew worse. People had always compared Margaret and Elizabeth, and in most situations, Elizabeth had always outshined her. Margaret didn’t want to come to terms that her sister has all it takes to be to be ahead, and it caused a further rift between the two sisters. Margareth got married eventually to James Armstrong, a photographer, and Queen Elizabeth crowned him Earl of the Snowdon own, which translated to Margareth being the countess. Margaret had always wanted to become a queen, but as Queen Elizabeth started having her children, heirs, and heiresses her chances to become queen dropped in succession.

Margaret divorced her husband because she was not happy in the marriage. Both couples was accused of infidelity even as married people. Research says that the media did more harm to the sister relationship between Margaret and Queen Elizabeth because they were always comparing them. Before Margaret eventually passed on as a result of Stroke complications that emanated from her lifestyle of smoking and drinking excessively. The stroke complications got worsened after a bathroom casualty, Margaret was cited to have said: “I’d probably be the second best in my grave.”.Margaret didn’t see herself as someone who deserved better, and this affected the atmosphere she lived in, because our words and actions contribute to the atmosphere we live in.

If I am been asked, what do you think about Margaret? I’d say that Margaret, is that woman who wants to only prepare for opportunities when it’s feasible. Her inability to prepare for the future plus her lackadaisical attitude couldn’t fit the spotlight when it came, so the spotlight left her behind. Her pain wasn’t caused by Elizabeth except for sensitive issues that the internet may not have records of, but for the most part, the problem was she didn’t live ready, by waking up to purpose on time because opportunity that meets preparation, is the real success!

Queen Elizabeth prepared for the rain, but when all she saw was the wind, she wasn’t only fit for the spotlight, she became the real heir and not the spare. Diligence isn’t only when you have the opportunity to prove your worth, diligence is also putting in the work when there is no one to sprinkle you with the accolades you deserve. Growth is a system that you cannot cheat if you put in the work, you will reap the harvest. So when next that timidity and discouragement comes to you to affect you from doing it right, remember the difference between Queen Elizabeth( real heir) and Margaret( the spare heir)and this difference is DILIGENCE.
